Flood Gold
The rains hit hard and moved a lot of soil! I went back to one of my flood gold spots. These areas have taken years to discover and always have a nice amount of fresh gold after a few days of heavy rain and this rain was no exception. I know of several long exposed bedrock stretches like this one! They do change every few years a bit. If you're new to prospecting pay careful attention to the pictures of the ground, cracks, etc. Pay attention to where I found the gold!
On the way in the roads were a bit slick. I was following a GMC JIMMY and he was fish-tailing all over the road in a few spots of about 2 foot deep mud. I fish-tailed too! By the time we left, the roads had dried quite a bit.

When we saw the creek we got very excited! Large cracks filled with material. Heavy material that was reluctant to move during the massive rains. Material like gold! Notice the cracks in the bedrock, the deposits of black sand. Some of these cracks are over a foot deep! Notice the jumble of large rocks, grass and roots! Super, natural gold traps! Super, natural, not supernatural! Some of the cracks are not even visible until you dig down! I mainly used my good old shovel and gold pan, but had to fire up the GMT to check for the big stuff! Nope I did not work hard at all! This is easy shoveling! Not at all like a drywasher!

Look where I am putting my coil... I found a 1 gram nugget in there!

The proof is in the pudding...see below...6.5 grams total, cleaned up and ready! Notice the 1 grammer. And don't forget the bottom pictures....

Detectors will not work in these drain pipes unless the pipes are plastic, but you will never find a better sluice and all the work is done except scooping out the gold! Just remember gold is heavy, reluctant to move, easily trapped by grass and roots, cracks and potholes, etc
You can watch a video of the wash flowing, I added the music. The format is for Windows Media Player. Be sure your settings are at 100% for best viewing and quality. The movie may take a while to load on slow connections.
Best of luck on getting your share of flood gold...Rod
