Being the first counts to find Gold

Just last week I went gold prospecting by my buddy Adam. We've had some good rains here in Arizona and we headed up into the Bradshaw Mountains. Most of the washes in this area were pounded hard by flooding and there was not only exposed bedrock everywhere there was also a lot of material that was previously on the hills now deposited as overburden. We were the first in this area after the rains and that's always a good thing.

The start of the hunt was good. I fired up the GP Extreme with my 14 inch mono and began getting newly detectable targets right off the bat. Eventually I came across the nice 6.2 gram nugget you see below. Adam scored the smaller nugget with a surprisingly large 18.5 in coil! on his SD2200 Minelab metal detector. That's skill!
