No Metal Boots

No metal boots are almost a necessity if you are using a powerful metal detector with a coil of 11 inches or larger when hunting gold nuggets. I wear no metal boots always on my gold prospecting adventures, even when using small coils, exploring, dry washing or any other type of activity. Metal detecting boots are extremely lightweight and very comfortable in my experience. The reason it is good to wear them while detecting is your detector can pick up on even the metal lace rings if it is a powerful enough machine and cause a lot of unneeded noise. You want to eliminate as much interference with your metal detector as possible. Prices on these boots can vary greatly, I've got several pair of 5.11 H.R.T. boots from http://www.lapolicegear.com/ look for a sale, I've got them as low as $39.99 per pair. Another good brand is Bates, the Bates Falcon no metal boot I've found these as low as $69.00 per pair.

Now every detector and coil setup does not require no metal boots, you'll know pretty fast if you are walking around detecting and your shoes are giving off a signal with every step.
